What we collect
Dex collects the business card details you create, import, scan, or receive, such as names, roles, companies, phone numbers, email addresses, websites, postal addresses, social links, card designs, logos, and card photos. Dex does not require an account, does not run advertising analytics, and does not sell personal data.
Camera and photos
Dex asks for camera access only when you choose to capture or scan a business card. Camera images and selected photos are used to frame, crop, preview, save, and read business cards. Text recognition runs on your device before Dex fills in editable card fields.
Contacts
Dex asks for contacts access only when you choose to save a scanned or received card to your address book. Dex uses that access to create the contact you requested.
On-device storage
Cards can be kept on your device so you can view and edit them in the app. If Dex backend storage is enabled, card images, logos, and related card details may also be uploaded to Dex-operated storage so the app can store and retrieve those cards.
Sharing your card
When you share a card via NFC, QR, or a Dex link, the contents of that card travel directly to the recipient. Web previews at dexapp.biz/i/<packet> decode the link in your browser only.
Retention and deletion
Dex keeps card data for as long as it is stored in the app or in Dex backend storage. You can delete cards from the app. You can request help with deletion or data questions by emailing the contact below.
Security
Dex uses platform permission prompts and HTTPS-backed storage where applicable. No method of storage or transmission is perfect, but Dex limits access to the data needed for card creation, scanning, sharing, and support.
